Glass extension to Dalston house featured in self build & design magazine

Utilise roof glazing to create a glass box extension with sky views.

Ideal Homes recently wrote a piece on glass extensions, pinpointing ideas and designs to make a design statement whilst maximising certain elements like light or views. Our Dalston House project was featured for the sky views offered by the full glass roof, under the ‘set your sights on the sky’ heading of the article.

The glass extension features a full glass roof, engineered with our Invisio structural glazing systems and supported by a steel T section. Underneath the glass roof is a set of minimally framed glass sliding doors, seamlessly linking the garden space with the new extension for an indoor-outdoor style of living.

The steel support was specified over glass beams or fins on this project due to the industrial style of the extension. The aluminium frames on the sliding doors were powder coated in black, to match the black interior design scheme. As well as a flush threshold for seamless travel between indoor and outdoor environments, the slim sliding doors are fully thermally broken.

Our structural glazing system utilised for this roof glazing design is also fully thermally broken, creating a living space that is a comfortable living temperature all year round.

Thanks to the fully glazed roof and oversized sliding doors, the glass extension is bathed in natural light throughout the daytime and offers stunning sky views once the sun goes down.
