Grand Designs February 2014

IQ Glass and our works were featured throughout February’s issue of the iconic publication Grand Designs noted for both the design of our contemporary glazing installations but also the innovation of some of our products such as the Heated Glass.

Firstly two IQ projects were featured as 3 of the best inspiring glazing designs within the architecture section. Our project with HUT Architecture in Dartmouth at Vine House showed a sliding minimal window meeting structural glazing to create floor-to-ceiling glazing with 180-degree views. Also, our large project Sweethaws with Smerin Architects was featured for its large, frameless picture windows. Read the article HERE .

Further into the magazine IQ’s exclusive minimal windows 4+ sliding doors were featured in Ben and Rachel’s South London home. These triple glazed sliding doors have a vertical framing of only 26mm but can hold massive units of up to 12m2 per sliding panel.

A second case study featuring IQ minimal windows sliding doorscomes next with the standard version of the sliding doors opening up the top floor maisonette in London onto an external terrace. Lastly IQ’s project in Scotland – The Ice House – was featured in George Clark's article about the new developments in glazing. This glass extension used heated glass units to provide the heat source with George commenting “This means that any large panels of glazing can act as sizeable and efficient radiators. These panels work so well that I’ve designed spaces that need no radiators or underfloor heating”. You can read the full article here.
